About the event

On the Move celebrates Black trailblazers, inventors, and visionaries who expanded access, opportunity, and imagination through transportation, exploration, and innovation.

Throughout the week, campers will discover how people move through the world by land, sea, and air while exploring the stories of pioneers who broke barriers and created new possibilities. Through hands-on design challenges, creative building projects, maps, navigation activities, and storytelling, children will learn how transportation connects communities and shapes our everyday lives.

Campers will experience transportation in action through exciting field trips. All campers will visit the Petersen Automotive Museum to explore automotive innovation, design, and engineering. Younger campers will visit Travel Town Museum, where they can discover historic trains and the role railroads played in connecting people and places.

Throughout the week, children will:

• Design and imagine future vehicles

• Learn about aviation pioneers such as Bessie Coleman
